And so a new year begins. Recently someone wrote to me to say that perception trumps reality. I replied that perception IS reality. In other words, that it really is all in how you look at it. Our perception of the world is but a mirror that reflects back what we project, and yet it seems that few can ever keep that in mind in reacting to events as they unfold.
I have never been one for New Year's resolutions, i'm too quick to take that test, but as the fine piece of installation art snapped in lower Manhattan a few years ago might suggest, it might do just the same to at least make a mental note to strive for greater awareness of what one projects. It just might just pay dividends.
